My First Counting Book - Allah Created Everything
Cross curricula: Let's Learn about our Creator and Numbers
You couldn't apply the same rules and teaching methodologyies or philosophies to screaming little 3 year olds, that constantly demand your attention. And the thing about 3 year olds is that they learn in their own time, you cannot force or push them if they are not ready. But we knew that our children have the potential to learn anything well, if we applied the right teaching method that suited our children, and start them on the process of learning. So that they are trained from an early age to understand what is involved in the process of learning. But all the while making their experience engaging, enjoyable and fun, so that they develop a positive association with learning and education.
My dear friend and I split the subjects among ourselves, wrote down goals of what we wanted our children to achieve and we made a outline of how we were going to approach this.
So, I had the idea of incorporating two subjects together into a weekly craft, to reinforce what we were teaching our children, which was numbers 1 to 10 and Allah is our Creator. I've noticed that with arts and crafts it engages the child to hold their attention for alot longer because it is similar to playing and what they are familiar with.
Teaching numbers 1 to 10 over a course of 6 weeks and learning about Allah helped them master this subject. And at 3 years old they are never too young to develop their relationship with their Lord, it is amazing how much they understood and how much they loved to learn about their Lord, their eyes would light up and their faces were always happy and wanting to know more about Allah.
My first counting book - numbers 1 - 10 was split into 2 books, for numbers 1 to 5 and 6 to 10, this was because the project lasted about 6 weeks and I wanted to show the children what they have accomplished in a nice looking book they had made themselves. The book includes different textures and materials for their little hands to discover, pictures they are familiar with and each page is a pop-up page to make it appealing and engaging for them.
Allah Created everything numbers 1 to 5
Page 1 - Allah created 1 sun
Page 2 - Allah created 2 mountains
Page 3 - Allah created 3 trees
Page 4 - Allah created 4 jellyfish
Page 6 - Allah created 5 flies
Allah Created everything numbers 6 - 10
Page 6 - Allah created 6 flowers
Page 7 - Allah created 7 owls
Page 8 - Allah created 8 octopus legs
Page 9 - Allah created 9 spiders
Pages 10 - Allah created 10 coconuts
My DD3 would love to look through her first handmade book over and over again, she was very proud that she had made it and proudly show her daddy and read it to him.
I hope you have enjoy this project with your child as much as I had enjoyed it with my child.
