Montessori Number Cards (FREE Printable)

Learning 123's
In English And Arabic

Cards and Counters Activity Cards

DS3 using montessori number activity

These cards can be used with Montessori materials. All you need to do is print out on A3 paper, cut and laminate. You will also need 45 counters (chips, buttons, etc.)

Demonstration

1. Begin with number one, explaining that one counter is the same as the symbol for number one.

2. Say the number "two" as you place it on the floor, then place two counters by it to show that one object is the same as the symbol for two. Show that two is one more than one.

3. As each new number is introduced, repeat and count: 1, 2, 3, 4.

4. Give value to the symbols by placing the counters of corresponding value next to the them. Show that three is one more than two, etc.

5. Be sure that the child knows and understands the meaning of 1 to 4, then proceed with the numbers through to nine in the same way. Repeat number value, add objects and return to one for each number taught.

Purpose

To introduce the child to numbers and to teach him the association of the number name and corresponding quantity.

Here are some other ideas of how we used them.

Using the cards with the Montessori beads, aim is to familiarize the number, and bead color with the quantity.
We also used the cards for matching number on number.

Another special treat for my readers, more free printables.
