DIY TUTORIAL 3 Letter CVC Word Mini Book CRAFT

Pink Series - 3 Letter CVC words - Mini fold out Book

Pink Series - CVC words Mini fold out Book
My DS3 is on his way to learning how to blend letters. Whilst my little boy was sound asleep, I made for him mini books with three letter CVC (consonant vowel consonant) words for him to practice his blending. He is at the very beginnings of his journey to learn how to read and I wanted to make for him his first book that was fun, engaging and enjoyable to read. This mini book is in agreement to the Jolly phonics program we are following and Montessori language program.

Here is a step by step tutorial with pictures

Pink Series - CVC words Mini fold out Book

  1. Fold your A4 piece of paper in four equal lengths. This will give you four pages per piece of paper, I used five pieces of paper giving me a total of 20 pages for my mini books.
  2. Cut down the folds.
  3. Now fold the strip into three equal parts, this will be your page with a fold out.
  4. Do this with all your strips of papers.
  5. Now, for the content;
    • Right side page = CVC word
    • Middle center page = picture
    • Left side page = blank

6. Fold down the left page so that it covers the middle center page and now write down the question mark ((?)). Do this for every left side page on the 'wrong side'.This will open up as your fold out page. You can stop here, using these strip's individually and store them in a pink envelope for your pink series word collection.
or you can proceed to the next steps to make your mini fold out book.

7. Now for the sticking. Take two strips and match up the Middle center page with the other strip's right side page and glue together.
8. Repeat gluing with all the strip's until you get a decent number of pages for your child.
9. Finally cut to size a pink front and back cover for you mini fold out book and title it;
"Pink Series
CVC words"

Now, you are all finished to gift it your child.

When my little boy woke up, to his surprise he and his sister found the mini book carefully placed by the sofa on the coffee table which is where they like to go in the mornings to play and read books. He was very happy to have something that mummy had made for him and he was smiling with joy when he showed me what he had found. This is a sweet way to encourage a child to learn how to read.
